  • Lemon zest
  • Garlic

  • Paprika

How to Make Chicken Shawarma the Easy Way

    1. Mix the olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and the rest of the spices in a bowl until well combined.

    1. Add the chicken thighs and massage the spice mixture into the chicken until fully coated.

    1. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least one hour.

    1. Heat your grill or grill pan over medium high heat, brush the grill with a little oil, and grill until fully cooked, about 4 minutes per side or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 F.

    1. To serve: make a tomato, cucumber, and feta salad and tzatziki. Wrap the sliced chicken in a warmed pita bread with salad and tzatziki drizzled on top.

How Long Can I Marinate Chicken?

For best results you should marinate chicken for at least 2 hours, but you can marinate it in an airtight container for up to two days. After two days, the texture of meat could change and get mushy because of the marinade ingredients. You can also freeze marinated raw chicken for up to 3 months. The marinating process will continue once the chicken thaws. Let it thaw in the fridge overnight and cook the next day.

You can store the cooked, cool chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you make a tomato and cucumber salad or tzatziki to make your sandwich, store them in a separate container in the refrigerator.
