Ingredients for Baked Pig Shots

Ingredients for Baked Pig Shots

  • Kielbasa or smoked sausage cut into ¾ -inch pieces. Choose your favorite flavor.
  • Thick-cut bacon to wrap the sausage bites. It gives the pig shots a smoky flavor.
  • Cream cheese for the cheesy topping. It must be room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Sour cream to soften the cream cheese and make it smooth.
  • Shredded cheddar cheese. Sharp cheddar is best to balance out the strong flavor of the sausage and bacon.
  • Ranch dressing mix to flavor the cheese mixture. Just a little bit goes a long way. It has the perfect mixture of herbs, spices, and salt.
  • Jalapeno peppers. You will need chopped jalapenos for the cheese topping and a few slices to place on top of each pig shot.
  • Cajun seasoning to give the cheese mixture a slight kick. Use a little bit first and taste the cheese mixture. Some Cajun seasonings are very salty, add it a little at a time.
  • Barbecue sauce. Use your favorite brand.
  • Honey to add sweetness to the barbecue sauce and so the pig shots can caramelize in the oven.
  • Brown sugar will also provide sweetness and a touch of caramel-flavor.
  • Hot sauce is optional. Add it if you like a little spicy touch.
