How to Make Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Ingredients for Texas Roadhouse Rolls

    1. In a large bowl, stir the yeast and 1 tsp sugar in ½ cup of warm water until the yeast dissolves. Let it stand for 5-8 minutes or until it starts to foam. If it doesn’t foam, the yeast is no longer active.

    2. Using a handheld or stand mixer with the dough hook attached, mix in the milk, butter, eggs, ½ cup sugar, 2 ½ tsp salt, and flour (one cup at a time) until a soft dough forms.

    3. Transfer the dough onto a floured work surface and knead the dough until smooth.

    4. Place the dough into an oiled large bowl, and move it around until fully covered with oil.

    5. Cover with plastic wrap and place in a draft-free place (like a turned off oven) for 1-1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.

    6. Punch down the dough and transfer to your floured surface. Using a floured rolling pin or your hands, shape it into a large ½-inch thick rectangle.

    7. Fold the rectangle in half to make a smaller 1-inch thick rectangle.

    8. Using a dough scraper, cut the rectangle into 28 squares. Place these rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover with a damp towel, and let rise for an hour in a draft-free place.

    9. Preheat the oven to 350 F and bake the rolls for 15 minutes or until slightly golden brown. While still hot, brush with melted butter and serve hot!

    10. Make the honey butter: using a hand-held or stand mixer, beat the butter until fluffy.

    11. Add the powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon, and beat until smooth.
