Curry rice or curried rice is an easy and quick side or complete dish recipe, that can be served with your favorite meals or can be served on its own with a delicious sauce. you will get delicious, tender, and fluffy rice with just two main staple ingredients in addition to spices.
What you will need to make curry rice
- Basmati or Jasmine rice
- Onion
- Garlic and Ginger
- Curry powder or Garam Masala
- Turmeric
- Stock or water
- Salt
- Frozen peas are optional
How to make easy fluffy curry rice
1. Sauté the onions over medium heat in a pot until soft and fragrant, add garlic and ginger, this should take about 1 or 2 minutes.
2. Add curry powder and turmeric, you can use Garam masala or cardamom if you prefer.
3. Add rinsed rice, and stir to combine. Add salt to taste then cover with stock or water, and stir to ensure that no grains of rice are sticking to the bottom of the pot.
4. Add the peas if using, and cover the pot with a lid and the rice to cook.
5. Remove the lid, and reduce the heat until all the water gets absorbed.
6. Cover again and cook for another 5 minutes. Once the rice is cooked turn it off, and fluff the rice with a fork. Garnish the rice and serve!
HOW TO SERVE CURRY RICE
With cooked protein like :
- Garlic Prawns
- Sauteed salmon or Tuna
- Juicy baked chicken breast
- Fried fish or chicken
- Garlic Chicken Thighs
- Or simply boiled eggs
With salad or vegetables:
- Add some tomato pieces and cucumber wedges for a better taste.
- Pieces of roasted mushrooms
HOW TO STORE CURRY RICE
This curry rice recipe can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Allow the rice to cool completely before placing it in a container and refrigerating. For those who wish to freeze it, it’s totally possible! You can freeze this curry rice for up to 3 months. Let the rice thaw overnight in the fridge, or simply reheat it in the microwave.

QUICK AND EASY FLUFFY HOMEMADE CURRY RICE

Ingredients
- 2 cups of basmati or Jasmine rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 crushed cloves of garlic
- 1 Teaspoon crushed ginger
- 1 Teaspoon turmeric
- 2 teaspoons curry powder or garam masala
- 1 Teaspoon salt
- 4 cups stock or water
- 1 cup frozen peas is optional
Instructions
1- Rinse rice until water runs pretty clear, then drain well.
2- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a small to medium pot over medium-high heat.
3- Add the onion and cook for 1 minute until partly translucent and softened.
4- Add ginger and garlic and cook for 30 seconds
5- Add rice and stir all the rice grains in oil, add all spices.
6- Add stock or water, salt, and peas and stir well.
7- Cook for 10 minutes, place the lid on, and turn the heat down to low.
8- Remove the lid and Cook gently for 5 minutes until most of the water has been absorbed
9- Clamp lid back on and remove from heat.
10- Stand for 5 minutes
11- Once cooked, use a fork to gently fluff. Add seasoning to taste.
