  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil spray
  • Egg
  • All-purpose flour
  • Mayonnaise
  • Dijon mustard
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Parsley flakes
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Chicken tenderloins

How to Make the Crispiest Chicken Tenders

    1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and spread the breadcrumbs on a baking tray. Spray them with oil and bake until slightly brown and toasted, around 10 mins. Remove from the oven and set aside.

    2. In a shallow bowl mix the egg, flour, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, parsley flakes, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.

    3. Add the chicken tenderloins to the shallow bowl and mix until well covered in the batter.

    4. Transfer the chicken tenders to the baking tray with the breadcrumbs and press them on both sides into the breadcrumbs until fully coated.

    5. Place the breaded chicken on a rack over a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until fully cooked on the inside and crispy on the outside.

What if I Don’t Have Panko Breadcrumbs?

You can use regular breadcrumbs but truly the secret to extra crispy chicken tenders is in the Panko breadcrumbs. Bake regular breadcrumbs until crispy as well before breading the chicken tenders. This increases the crunch factor!

How to Reheat Chicken Tenders to Restore Crispness?

Let the cold chicken tenders come to room temperature, spray them with a little oil spray, and bake in a 400 F until heated through, about 5-8 minutes. Do not reheat cold chicken tenders because the coating will burn before they are fully reheated!

How to Store Crispy Chicken Tenders?

Let them come to room temperature, this is very important. Then, place them in an airtight container and cover them with a paper towel or napkin before placing the lid on. This way the napkin will catch any extra moisture that might accumulate during refrigeration, preventing them from getting soggy.

Method for Air Fryer (Crispy Chicken Tenders)

  1. Prepare as usual. Prepare the chicken the same way as for the oven, using the same marinade and breading.
  2. Start the air fryer heating up to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Arrange everything in one layer. Place the breaded tenders in the basket (or on the tray) without touching them. Work in batches so air can circulate.
  4. Cook for 6 minutes, then turn over and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, until it’s golden and fully cooked.
  5. Check that they are cooked. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C). Let it rest for 2–3 minutes to make it extra crispy.

Pro tips:

  • Spray a little oil on before cooking and after flipping to get a deeper golden crust.
  • If your tenders are larger or thicker, add 1–2 minutes. If smaller, start checking early.
