Personally, I think ribs cooked in the slow cooker are better than baked, grilled, or even barbecue ribs.
You don’t have to worry about them being cooked all the way through, turning out tough, or dry.
This recipe makes the most delicious, fall-of-the-bone tender, and juicy ribs!
Best part? You only need a handful of ingredients!
Ingredients for Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs
- Baby back pork ribs. These are great for the slow cooker because they are small enough to fit it and turn out very tender.
- Garlic salt and pepper to season the ribs
- Barbecue sauce. Use your favorite sauce. I recommend not using honey barbecue sauce because the Dr Pepper is already sweet.
- Dr Pepper or your favorite dark soda. It will provide cooking liquid as well as sweetness.
How to Make 5-Ingredient Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs
1. Using a knife, pull up the edge of the sinew from the back of the ribs (the white translucent “skin” on the back side) and remove it. Season the ribs with garlic salt and pepper. Place them in the pot of your slow cooker.
2. Pour in the barbecue sauce and soda, and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4.
3. Slather them with additional barbecue sauce before serving if desired.
Can I Freeze Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs?
Yes. You can freeze them with the bones, or you can take the bones out and freeze the meat.
Let them come to room temperature, place them in an airtight container or freezer bag, and freeze for 3-4 months.
Take them out of the freezer and place them in the fridge overnight. You can add a little barbecue sauce before reheating if you think they dried up a little in the freezer.
Your leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days when stored in an airtight container.
What to Serve with Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs?
You can serve these fall-of-the-bone tender ribs with the following side dishes:
- Spanish rice
- Baked beans
- Coleslaw
There is no easier way to cook ribs than doing it in the slow cooker!
