Ingredients for Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skewers

  • Olive Oil: For a prominent taste, use extra virgin olive oil or anyone with good quality.
  • Paprika: Gives your chicken that appealing color and adds flavor. To give it a touch of smokiness, use smoked paprika.
  • Garlic Powder: Works better than fresh garlic due to the texture, to give it that garlicky taste.
  • Onion Powder: Adds more seasoning and flavor to your meal.
  • Salt and Pepper: Crucial part to making the flavors more pronounced.
  • Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce: For a bit of spiciness and zest to your chicken. Use to your liking.
  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs: These tend to be juicier and softer. Chicken breasts are also good, although they might need more time to cook.
  • Unsalted Butter: For that extra taste to your parmesan-garlic sauce.
  • Garlic: It gives you more of that strong garlic flavor when it’s freshly minced. Use depending on your liking.
  • Red Chili Flakes: For a dash of spice.
  • Parmesan Cheese: For the savory and nutty flavor of shredded parmesan.
  • Lemon Juice: Adds a tangy and light taste that meshes well with the cheese and butter.
  • Fresh Parsley: To give it that pop of freshness. Other herbs like thyme and chives are good too.

How to make Chicken Kebabs ( Skewers)

    1. Prep your wooden skewers, to avoid them burning in your air fryer, by soaking them in a casserole dish full of water.

    2. Mix your Tabasco Green Pepper sauce, paprika, pepper, salt, garlic powder, olive oil, and onion powder in a plastic bag or bowl. Place in your chicken pieces and make sure they’re well coated.

    3. Put your chicken cubes into the skewers, gently tightening everything to ensure they stay juicy. In case your skewers don’t fit into the air fryer basket, feel free to cut the top off when you’re done.

    4. Prepare your parmesan garlic butter sauce: Put your butter on low heat to melt in a pan. Sprinkle in your red pepper flakes and chopped garlic, mix until for 1 minute. Turn the heat off and allow it to chill for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in your parsley, parmesan cheese, and lemon juice until well mixed.

    5. Separate a third of the sauce and put it to the side. Be weary of cross-contamination by allowing the chicken to fully cook before basting it with the sauce you left aside.

    6. Cook your chicken skewers: In the air fryer basket, lay out your chicken skewers and cook for 6 to 7 minutes at 400 F.  Flip the skewers, brush them with your sauce, and cook for an extra 6 to 7 minutes. Their internal temperature should be at 165 F which will take you around 12 to 14 minutes of cooking time total.

    7. Before serving, apply your leftover clean garlic sauce on top and garnish with some parmesan, enjoy.

Can I cook these skewers in the oven?

Yes, your skewers can be cooked in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 400 F, turning them over mid-cooking.

Can I use metal skewers?

Definitely. They just have to be the kind of metal skewers that you can use in the air fryer or oven.

What’s the best way to reheat leftovers?

Place your skewers in the air fryer on low for a couple of minutes to reheat, making sure they stay soft and don’t overcook.

Ingredients

Chicken Skewers

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of regular paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce
  • 2 pounds of chicken thighs without skin and bone, sliced into 3-inch cubes
  • nonstick cooking spray

➔ Garlic Parmesan Butter Sauce

  • ½ cup unsalted butter ( 1 stick)
  • 10 cloves garlic, finely chopped or minced
  • ⅓ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • ½ cup parmesan, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ⅓ cup fresh parsley, minced

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Soak your wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl or a resealable plastic bag, mix together the oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce.
  3. Add the chicken and toss to coat on all sides
  4. Thread the chicken tightly onto each skewer, ensuring there is no space in between to maximize juiciness. If necessary, trim the top few inches of the skewers to fit in the air fryer after threading the chicken.
  5. Make the Garlic Parmesan Butter Sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Whisk until the garlic becomes fragrant, approximately 1 minute. Take the saucepan off the heat and allow to cool down for 1-2 minutes, add the parmesan, lemon juice and parsley, stirring to blend.
  6. Reserve one-third of the sauce to use for basting the partially cooked chicken. Keep the rest of the sauce for basting the FULLY COOKED chicken to prevent any cross-contamination.
  7. Cook the Chicken: Place the chicken skewers in the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-7 minutes. After 7 minutest, flip the skewers, apply the sauce for basting, and cook for an additional 6-7 minutes at 400 degrees, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. The total cooking time should be around 12-14 minutes.
  8. Once done, brush them with the remaining butter garlic sauce (using the reserved clean sauce) and sprinkle with extra parmesan before serving.
