Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta Recipe

If you’re a fan of shrimp and pasta, this simple dinner is a must-try. The secret to its deliciousness lies in the sauce!

I had never cooked with Thai sweet chili sauce before, and now I’m hooked. It adds the perfect amount of spice without being overpowering. If you like extra heat, sprinkle in some red pepper flakes for an extra kick.

For my husband’s birthday, I wanted to make something special and knew seafood would be the way to go, as it’s his favorite. I decided on this easy Bang Bang Shrimp recipe, and it was a hit! We were practically licking our bowls clean.

I used frozen shrimp and quickly thawed them by soaking in cold water. While the pasta was cooking, I sautéed the shrimp and mixed up the sauce. If you prefer a saucier dish, feel free to double the sauce ingredients.

This meal is quick and perfect for any night, or even a special occasion! You can also make it with chicken if you have some on hand.

Ingredients for Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Ingredients for Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta Recipe

  • Pasta: Thin spaghetti or angel hair works best, but regular spaghetti or gluten-free pasta are great alternatives. For a low-carb option, serve it over cooked spaghetti squash.
  • Shrimp: I use frozen medium shrimp, peeled and deveined, but you can use any size, fresh or frozen.
  • Oil: Coconut oil gives the best flavor, but olive or canola oil works fine.
  • Garlic: Fresh minced garlic adds bold flavor, though jarred garlic is also convenient.
  • Seasonings: Paprika, parsley, salt, and pepper to taste.

For the sauce:

  • Mayonnaise: The creamy base of the sauce, with light mayo as a lower-calorie option.
  • Thai sweet chili sauce: This is what gives the sauce its sweet and spicy kick.
  • Garlic: More minced garlic to enhance the flavor.
  • Lime juice: Fresh is ideal, but bottled works too.
  • Crushed red pepper flakes: Add to taste, depending on how spicy you like it.

How to Make Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta Recipe:

    1. Mix the sauce ingredients together and set aside. You can warm the sauce on the stove if desired, but it usually heats up nicely when combined with the hot pasta.
