Chef’s Tips For Baked Potatoes

  1. Each air fryer has a different cooking time; therefore, it would be best if you examine your potatoes throughout the process. The average time is 30 minutes, but in case they still aren’t cooked through, pop them back for another 10 minutes at most, making sure to pull your basket out each 5 minutes to check.
  2. First, make some holes in your potatoes for airing, before moving on to seasoning and cooking. This prevents them from popping in your air fryer by letting out the steam inside, and also allows them to fully cook.
  3. Potatoes are usually wrapped in foil when cooked on the grill, however, it is not the case for this recipe. This is the secret to that perfect crispy skin on the outside, otherwise it will come out mushy.

Baked potatoes are a special kind of comfort food, and this air fryer recipe is just perfect. It has a crispy savory outside, and a smooth and soft inside.

Ingredients

For the Air Fryer Baked Potatoes

  • 4 russet potatoes (6 to 8 ounces per-potato)
  • 1 tablespoon of neutral oil
  • coarse sea salt to your liking

Instructions

  1. Turn on your air fryer to 400 F. Rince 4 russet potatoes and use a vegetable scrubber to get rid of any grimes and mud. Tap dry with paper towels and transfer to a cutting board.
  2. Put holes in your potatoes using a fork for ventilation. Coat with a tablespoon of neutral oil and a dash or coarse sea salt all throughout the surface.
  3. Work in batches if your air fryer basket is small or your potatoes are too big. Cook for 30 minutes.
  4. When the time is up, take your potatoes out and insert a fork to check if they’re done. In case your fork doesn’t go in smoothly, put them back in to cook for another 5 minutes before checking again. Redo until you’re satisfied with the level of cooking.
  5. Once done, take the potatoes out of your air fryer and place them on your cutting board.
  6. Cut down the middle using a knife, making sure it is not deep enough to slice your potatoes in half. Push down on the edges to widen the slice and let the steam out.
  7. Feather the core of the potato using a fork, garnish with your preferred toppings, and enjoy while still warm!
