Peaches are my favorite fruit, and when they are in season, peach cobbler is my default dessert. My family loves my peach cobbler recipe and I make it several times in the season. You can make it using bottled or canned peaches, but fresh ones are way better. Whenever I’m having a peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, I am immediately transported to my childhood.

How to make the best peach cobbler recipe

My grandma’s old fashioned peach cobbler was the best. She would serve it in a big dessert cup in layers with ice cream in between. This easy peach cobbler recipe is an adaptation of hers and I hope your family loves it as much as mine.

INGREDIENTS IN PEACH COBBLER RECIPE

Peaches are of course the star ingredient. I like to use peeled ripe (but not too ripe) peaches. Use them while they are still firm so they won’t be too soft in the cobbler. I love to have a big bite of sweet peach, but not when it turns into a puree.

  • Sugar: I am constantly watching my weight and try to use as little sugar as I possibly can. If you are calorie conscious, try using monk fruit sweetener instead.
  • Butter: To me there is nothing that can substitute real butter, but if you want to make it vegan, I would recommend you try using applesauce or coconut oil instead.
  • Flour: All-purpose is the most commonly used, but sometimes I use ½ all-purpose and ½ whole wheat just to add a little fiber and feel better about it! I have yet to try it using almond flour, but I bet it would taste amazing.
  • Baking powder to make it light and fluffy.
  • Milk: I use 2%, but you can use the milk of your choice. Dairy or non-dairy.
  • Cinnamon: A little goes a long way. Cinnamon and peaches make the perfect couple.
  • Salt: All desserts need a little pinch of salt. It makes the flavors come to life. It really makes a difference, don’t skip it.

HOW TO MAKE EASY PEACH COBBLER RECIPE

    1. Peel the peaches: make an “X” in the bottom part of the peach and dip each one for 30 seconds in boiling water. Skin will come right off.

    2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the sliced peaches with ½ cup granulated sugar. Cook them just until the sugar dissolves and a light syrup develops.

    3. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Place the butter in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking dish and into the oven while preheating, so the butter melts.

    4. While the butter melts, in a large bowl mix together 1 cup of flour, ½ cup granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ¾ cups milk, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, to form a soft batter.

    5. Take the baking dish out of the oven and pour the battery over the melted butter. Spoon the peaches (and syrup) over the batter, sprinkle ½ teaspoon of cinnamon on top, and bake for 35-40 mins.
