  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1.5 pound of cubed potatoes
  • 3 sliced carrots
  • 1 cubed onion
  • 1-2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 6-ounce can of tomato paste
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano

HOW TO MAKE SLOW COOKER POOR MAN’S STEW

Step 1. Sear your ground beef and dump the juices. Put it to the side.

Step 2. Dice your carrots, potatoes, and onions.

Step 3. Combine your garlic, oregano, tomato paste, onion powder, pepper and salt using a whisk in a bowl.

Step 4. Place all your components inside the crockpot. Stir and simmer for 7 hours on low. 

Don’t uncover it while it’s cooking, that will make it take longer to be fully cooked.

Step 5. Plate and serve!

Tip: It goes deliciously with a side of bread. Sprinkle some grated cheddar on top to elevate the taste.

Yes, another slow cooker recipe. This one is budget-friendly with minimal ingredients. Poor man’s stew is a great crockpot dump. With ground beef some potatoes and carrots or any veggies you have in your fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1.5 pound of cubed potatoes
  • 3 sliced carrots
  • 1 cubed onion
  • 1-2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 6-ounce can of tomato paste
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder

Instructions

    1. Cook your ground beef and strain it. Put to the side.
    2. Dice your onion, carrots, and potatoes.
    3. Mix your oregano, tomato paste, garlic, pepper, onion powder, and salt with a whisk in a bowl.
    4. Transfer your components to the crockpot and top them with broth or water. Stir and simmer for 7 hours on low. Make sure not to uncover it to avoid it taking longer to cook.
    5. Plate and serve.
